CASBA invites you!

Fibra Clay Plaster Workshop

Berkeley, CA

April 24-26, 2026

We’re excited to announce a new workshop opportunity:  a clay plaster system that is applicable in a broader array of contexts, including urban environments that are densely populated and largely consist of retrofits.  This high-fiber clay plaster system, called Fibra, has just been released by Gold Hill Clay Plaster, and can be used to plaster directly over nearly any surface, including wood fiber board, plywood, stucco, concrete block, and drywall. It also requires less build-out than traditional 3-coat clay plaster systems, and can be applied in just two passes: an adhesion coat, followed by a final pass for the finish.

For this workshop, we will be doing clay plaster accent walls directly over plywood shear walls, from start to finish in just 3 days. It will be co-instructed by the manufacturer of this product and co-founder of Gold Hill Clay Plaster, Kyle Alexander, as well as by local natural building professional Darles Eaton. To ensure a high quality of workmanship, this will be a small class size with a high ratio of instruction to participants, so sign up early to reserve your space. This is an ideal workshop for both plaster professionals and plaster dabblers looking to take it to the next level, as well as designers, architects, and contractors who would like to see more natural systems that are appropriate in mainstream contexts. There will also be networking and educational events in the evenings.

Breakfast and lunch is included in the registration. There is no on-site overnight accommodation. Inquire if you’d like to stay with one of the many local natural builders in the area. Each participant is required to have a .5 flexible stainless steel trowel and a hawk.

When: April 24-26

Where: West Berkeley, CA

Cost: $360
